The Year in Review: Trading Card Trends in 2023

We can now reflect on the highs and lows of the 2023 trading card market that made the year both challenging and rewarding. Over the last year, we revamped the site, added single packs and increased the number of cards uploaded per day by 30%. Out of the 365 days in the year, we only missed 26 nightly uploads. The card market as a whole has softened, although anecdotal evidence tells us that the low to mid-end market has been stronger than ever.

Goals for 2024

In 2023, the biggest frustration for our customers has been that cards they put into their cart were sold before they could check out. We hear you. It will be our main goal in 2024 to dramatically increase the number of cards uploaded every night so that more customers can get the cards they want. We may even explore having two uploads per night. Our lots are curated with the most relevant and trending athletes and we will continue that trend in 2024.

There has also been a lot of interest in Pokemon and TCG. We will increase the quantity of these types of cards and introduce newer sets like Disney Lorcana and One Piece to the site.

Another question we get frequently is if we will have more graded cards on the site. The short answer is yes, but it will be a slow burn. Slabs are slower to process and more expensive to ship but it will be our goal to bring them to the site daily.

We want to hear from you on how we can improve. So leave a comment below and let us know!
